Shamsi
was my first dog and my first saluki and came to me in 1983. Her originally name
was Wenarja's Yad-Rafta. Shamsi's kennel name "yad-rafta" is Persian
and means "forgotten, the forgotten one, gone from the memory". Shamsi is Arabian for
"my sun". She was a typically saluki, self-willed and stubbern. She
stole all the food she could and never listened when I called her. She ran
away on our daily walkes, but I couldn't resist letting her run for free.
Shamsi
became 12 years old and lived together with my other saluki, Zala for two years.
When Zala came to me, Shamsi became kind of young again, in spite of her age of
10 years.
Shamsi had the colour brown grizzle and she will always have a special
place in my heart, as my first dog.
